TENDER FIRES

By the tender hand that mercy moves

Is judgement cast, a soul to bruise

For goodness topples without its pair

I deal a fate of kind severe

This humility you take for weak and frail

Can flip the script from head to tail

The Sun eclipsed by wind and hail

You fight these tears but you shall fail

The devil was made for righteous anger

When my caustic rage lusts to conquer

When fire is summoned til Hell is cold

You’re flat as a card and ready to fold

And when the shadows recede from vengeful eyes

The dead in me a Phoenix rise

To balance the act of justice due

Singing in scales of a Libran true

THE VIRGO & THE VAMPIRE

(Inspired by elements in the novel “Vampires of Twilight Castle” by Asher Sharol)

No vendetta had I visualized against the sweet Victorian vixen

But from my vantage, her vitality vacuumed my prior vexation

I thought my vision was in vain, viewing her skin of velvet

Virgo’s virgin with a veil vaulted upon her face of vibrancy

But verily my vertigo-laced mind spun like a vortex

Viewing this vintage variety of Venus

I swooped down like a voracious vulture

"Your voluptuous form verifies my visitation

Vanquish thoughts of this vagrant vagabond's visage

Verily, vision is but vanity and vantages shall vanish as vapor

Venture instead to vivisect my voiced vocabulary"

Virile vernacular vehement and vociferous

 Vigorously vacating the vixen’s volition

She verified my veracious verses of verisimilitude,

Vindicating my vibrant verbiage

And vied viciously for my vested validation

She vocalized via a vibrato voice akin to a violin virtuoso

That vermilion is the color of her dreams of Valentine

Asked if I was a vampire, that in her valise are vases of vervain

“I’m no vampire villain, in vain do you vilify my virtue.”

“In vein?” she voiced, visceral. “My vespers vanquish vagabonds.”

Her vibes veered like vehicles of high velocity

I vouched to vouchsafe various vases of violet

Hoping to become her heart's victorious viceroy

SERPENTINE VERSE

The alphabet submits itself to my creative lust

I illuminate gray matter breathing life into mental dust

Immortal are they which proceed from my will

Black words spilled from the end of my quill

First, I summon like magic the will to write

Those quick, evasive ideas that tease with speed of light

I try to pluck them from swirling vortex of mind

And vicarious experiences combined

Then in starry-eyed solitude amid tick and tock

I exercise patience in awaiting a spark’s knock

Upon half-closed door of semi-permeable perception

To start weaving wayward words to pristine perfection

My third eye visualizes the prismatic akashic records

Caffeine- induced synesthesia discerns colors as gyrating chords

Poetic lines gleefully manifest as packets of quanta

And together with cadence of cardiac mantra-

Jottings metastasize like a cancer-engineering a sublime stanza

Seraphic muses descend -their lucid visage chryselephantine

Oozing words from their mouths teeming of nectarine

They demand grandiloquent mention of their grandiose names

And fantastical tales of fanciful lands from which they came

My fingers tap-dance across blurred keyboard

To the rhythm of their own frantic design

Manufacturing in rhyme-a body of keywords

Set upon the page reclined

Now naked words lie upon a sheet of white

Ebony fonts-hiding behind their meaning

They fidget on the page ever so slight

When searched by your bold eyes charmed or demeaning
